The Travaglino estate is located in Calvignano, which is a little town based in the Oltrepo’ Pavese. The area, in the south of Lombardy, that wedge from the fertile Po’ Valley to the Mediterranean Sea, is well known for having a bunch shape which bounds with the regions of Liguria, Piedmont and Emilia Romagna. The estate has the privilege to raise 400 hectares in a single batch – Two hundred of them are forests destined as a wild hog hunting reserve, which, has been done with the purpose to maintain away the poachers. Hundred and twenty hectares are arable lands and the remaining eighty hectares are vineyards. Moreover, within the property, there are 12 farmsteads, a historic village and an inn with restaurant and few rooms.

Tenuta Travaglino – Cuvèe 59 – Pinot Noir and Chardonnay Classic Method Brut D.O.C.G.

The Cuvée 59 is an eclectic spumante (sparkling wine) made with the traditional method by fermenting our great Pinot Noir cru and in oak barrels with the Chardonnay. The 59 Cuvée is aged on yeast for more than 24 months. The pale yellow color reminds us of mature exotic fruits and hints of bread crust. The great complexity of taste and smell combined with a delicate softness characterize this wine for elegance and personality, qualities that make it enjoyable on any occasion.

Vineyard Location: Vigna del Portico – Calvignano

Soil Type and Exposure: Brown soil – limestone, clay, on marl and sandstone. Facing south-east at 380 m. above sea level

Grape Variety: 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay

Denomination: DOCG (controlled and guaranteed designation of origin)

Cultivation Method and Planting Density: Spurred cordons with 4,800 vines per hectare.

Maximum Yield per Hectare: 5,000 litres

Grape Harvest: Traditional hand-picking from 10th August until early September

Wine Making: White with soft pressing and fermentation of only 50% of the must extract in steel tanks for Pinot Noir, and in barriques for Chardonnay

Bottling: In late spring, by blending the best of the wines obtained

Technical Specifications: Pressure 5.5 bar; sugars 8.0 mg/l; alcohol content 12.5 °

Aging in Bottle: Disgorged after 24 months on the rack and after a slow fermentation in our historic cellars

Description: Pale yellow colour, scents of ripe tropical fruit and crusty bread. The pleasant complex tastebouquet distinguish it for elegance, personality and freshness
